European Greens and Liberals Demand Condemnation of Homophobia

Members of the European Parliament with majority of votes accepted resolution about Croatian progress this Wednesday in which is stated that the end of access negotiations is possible by the end of this years if all the necessary criteria are met. 582 voted in favor of resolution, 24 against, 37 were sustained.

Albania adopts Anti-Discrimination Law

The Parliament of Albania adopted, with a unanimous vote February 4, 2010, the Anti-Discrimination Law which bans discrimination on various grounds, including sexual orientation and gender identity, listing Albania among the very few countries in Europe which explicitly ban discrimination on the grounds of gender identity.

Mediacentre Sarajevo Debate – Queer Identity in the Public Space

Over the past ten years, the issue of sexual orientation, sexual/gender identity and expression gained on importance in these parts, too. The LGBTIQ population is increasingly present in the media, legislation that protects the rights of queer persons (at least on declarative level) has been adopted. The Mediacentre Sarajevo invites you to participate in the public debate Queer Identity in the Public Space.

Organizers Appeal Ban of Belgrade Pride to the Constitutional Court

Dragana Vučković, Dušan Kosanović, Majda Puača, Marija Savić and Milica Đorđević, members of the Organizing committee of the Belgrade Pride 2009, filed an initiative to the Constitutional court of Serbia, appealing the decision to ban the Pride Parade that was scheduled to take place on September 20, 2009.

Foreign Support for Belgrade Pride Parade

The organizers of the cancelled, in reality banned Pride Parade in Belgrade receive support from abroad. Next Wednesday, September 30, a protest was announced by the Austrian Association of Homosexuals, in front of the Serbian Embassy in Vienna. Similar protests were already held in several European cities, like the protests of September 24 in Berlin.
