More than a hundred citizens and activists that participated in the blockade of the Varšavska Street in Zagreb, to prevent the start of construction works on the access ramp to the underground garage of the "Cvjetni" Centre developed by the HOTO Group, were arrested in the police action that started early this morning, parallel with the start of works in the pedestrian zone in down-town Zagreb.

Croatian trade unions announced that succeeded in collecting enough signature on the petition for a referendum on the Labour Law, but the plebiscite remains far from certain, having in mind the the Speaker of the Sabro Luka Bebić, who will receive the initiative to call for a referendum sometimes next week, doesn't have where to submit it to be checked and tested properly. For four years now, the Constitutional Court has no competence to test the legality of a referendum question, or whether the organizers of a petition collected sufficient number of signature.

The Youth Initiatives for Human Rights (YIHR) monitored the elections for national councils of national minorities, held on June 6, 2010, in the two southern municipalities of Preševo and Bujanovac and disagreed with the position of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights that Elections were organized and completed successfully.

The Elections for national minority councils in Serbia passed in democratic, peaceful atmosphere, in accordance with the law. A total of 54.47% of the registered 436,336 voters for elections of National minority councils turned out to cast their votes.

After several-weeks of vigil guard in Varšavska Street, aiming to prevent the start of construction works on the disputed garage access ramp, a number of artists, actors, performers, writers joined the activists and will hold in evening cultural programme in the street.

Kosovo’s nongovernmental organizations expressed their concerns over the threatening rhetoric used by representatives of Kosovo Government towards civil society representatives, condemning such statements they deem an open lynch call.
