3,000 Students Turned Out to Demand Cheaper Student Passes

Over 3,000 students gathered yesterday, February 17, in front of the National Museum in Sarajevo, in the “No Student Without the Promised Pass”, organized by the Alternative Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo, to demand from Cantonal Prime Minister Besim Mehmedić to keep his promise and ensure subsidized public transportation passes for all students.

Student Action before the Big Protest

Today, February 16, at 12:00 hours, the Alternative Student Parliament organizes the last action of the “No Student without the promised Traffic Pass” campaign on Čengić Vila tram stop, before the big protest scheduled for tomorrow, February 17, in front of the National Museum.

Students Demand Cheaper Public Transport Fares

At a meeting the representatives of the Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo held with the representatives of the Government of the Canton of Sarajefo and public transportation enterprise "GRAS”, on Wednesday, January 27, an agreement was reached to find the funding to finance the "StudID" project by February 17.

Resolution in Support of Visa Liberalization for Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro

The European Parliament is expected to adopt today the Resolution in Support of the Short-Stay Visa Waiver for citizens of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, to be effective on December 19, 2009.

Tanja Faion, the Rapporteur for Visa Liberalisation for the three countries of Western Balkans, expressed her satisfaction with the expected decision to grant visa waivers and noted that the citizens fo the three countries have been isolated by the existing visa regime and that they did enjoy greater rights and freedom of travel in former Yugoslavia.

DjeCa Association: Lecture on Baby-Seat Safety

The DjeCa (Children) association invites all interested parents and future parents to take part in a lecture that will allow them to become certified advisors for baby-seat checks and tests. The lecture will be given by Ana Duff, MD and advisor to the Roda Association for baby-seats and leader of “Safely in the baby-seat” project, on July 26, 2009, in Sarajevo.

Shocked Citizens, Successful Campaign

Automobiles destroyed in traffic accidents and billboards with the `Drive Carefully` message will warn the drivers and other participants in the traffic to the dangers of careless driving and failure to observe the traffic rules, often leading to tragic consequences.

Initiative Wants Night Trams in Sarajevo

Radio 202 started an initiative to introduce night busses and trams in Sarajevo and will organize, on Saturday, February 9, petition signing in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral.
