2000 People March for Peace and Nonviolence in Izmir

On Friday, October 23, over 30 different organizations and political parties joined forces and marched together in support for the World March proposal to build a world based on Peace and Nonviolence.

The marchers gathered in the morning, representing diverse organizations and groups, working in several areas, including human rights and environmental organizations, Communists and Kurdish organizations, that have dedicated more than one month of work to the event.

The two kilometre march started at 17:30 hours. More than 2000 people joined the march, chanting slogans and songs demanding peace and violence all over the world.

The march culminated with speeches delivered by representatives from human rights organizations and members of the Turkish team of the World March. The programme ended with concerts and theatrical performances.
