The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Foundation and the ERSTE Foundation, announced open the sixth annual competition under the “Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence” Programme. This year’s theme is the communities, and journalists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Kosovo can apply by March 5, 2012.

February 8, 2020 -- The Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosovo and Kosovo Women's Network condemned, in a joined statement on February 2, 2012, the prevailing culture of gender discrimination in Kosovo and the neglect of Kosovo institutions for the international treaties and national legislation that prohibits gender based discrimination.

On January 24, 2012, in Decan/Dečani, the Peja/Peć-based Eye of Vision NGO presented the three-year Action Strategy for Roma, Egyptian and Ashkali Community 2012-2014, drafted with the support of the Olof Palme International Centre. Municipal officials, representatives of the local community, OSCE, LMT, and the media participated in the presentation.

On January 25, 2012, the representative of Spanish company Caja Granada presented the Chief Family Medicine Center in Peja/Peć with a new spectrophotometer. The new equpment, procured with a grant secured through the efforts of Eye of Vision NGO, will be used for hematological and biochemical analyses.

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights called, in a public statement on January 27, 2012, on the Kosovo authorities to change the Kosovo Criminal Code to decriminalize defamation and reminded the m that the guaranteeing of freedom of expression is a negative obligations requiring from the government officials to abstain from interfering in free speech.

Civil society organizations of Kosovo condemned, in a joint statement issued on January 15, 2012, the brutal violence at the January 14, 2021 protest organized by the Self-Determination Movement, ordered by the Government of Kosovo and executed by the Kosovo Police. They also expressed their revolt against the position of the international community which, through a series of statements, has legitimized the violence of the Government against the citizens of Kosovo.

Under the auspices of FLOSS Kosovo's FLOSSTalk Programme, Betim Deva gave a lecture on “Adaptation of Android Operating System” on December 29, 2011, in Prishtina/Priština. Deva, an experienced programmer, shared his experiences with adaptation of Android OS to meet the needs of the clients, to an audience of about 30 interested people.

“Kosovo should remain one electoral district, voting should be done with open lists, the voters should only vote for one candidate, and the threshold to enter the Parliament should be natural” are the recommendations that KIPRED Institute prefers to take place in the electoral code of Kosovo, presented in the press conference held on Friday, December 16, 2011, in Prishtina.
