The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Foundation and the ERSTE Foundation, announced open the sixth annual competition under the “Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence” Programme. This year’s theme is the communities, and journalists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Kosovo can apply by March 5, 2012.

On February 7, the Safer Internet Day, Albanian Minister of Innovation and Information Technology Genc Pollo launched an awareness campaign for students, teachers and parents about the dangers of the virtual world, finally responding to at least two-years long calls for such a campaign to be enacted by Albanian civil society.

The European Movement in Albania organized the “Understanding the Process of European Integration” informative forum, February 3, at the “Fan S. Noli” University in Korca, under the auspices of the “Debunking the EU Integration Process” Project, supported by the UK Embassy in Albania, that aims to stimulate a cliché-free informed debate on the EU integrations among stakeholders in Albania.

February 6, 2020 -- In a statement issued on February 3, 2012, Amnesty International demanded from Albanian authorities to act immediately to find a suitable accommodation for 35 Roma families from Tirana who face eviction, or have been evicted before. Amnesty International noted that the temporary solutions are not real solutions for the Roma community.
