The Europe Day, May 9, was marked in Tirana with the "Run to Europe" marathon run and a bicycle race. The Mayor of Tirana Lulzim Basha, EU Ambassador to Tirana Ettore Sequi, Albanian Minister of Integration and other officials were present at the start of the marathon race, and they all stressed, in their addresses, their determination and commitment to build a European Tirana.

The civil society in rural areas face a number of problems including lack of new jobs, lack of development of agriculture and farming, lack of infrastructure, lack of inter-institutional reluctance in community work, denial of minority rights, etc. These conclusions are drawn from the project "Strengthening Civil Society in rural areas", implemented by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and UNDP.

February 21, 2020 -- During the recent cold spell that saw thousands of people trapped by heavy snow all over Albania, prompting the Government to declare a state of natural disaster, Ombudsman Igli Totozani met with civil society stakeholders on February 16, 2020 in Tirana to discuss and initiate a common relief plan to provide food for the stricken citizens.
