The Environmental Center for Development Education and Networking – EDEN – was created at the end of 2003 and legally registered in March 2004 by a group of young people. The initiative started as a response to the dilemmas of Milieukontakt Oost Europa regarding the future of its local offices in some countries in Eastern Europe.

After slightly more than two years of existence, under each of the thematic pillars (Capacity building of NGOs, GOs and other interested groups, Environmental Education and Waste) the centre has made quite a list of successes.

Nowadays Grand Lake Park and Dajti National Park are the most preferred place for Tirana’s citizens and other Albanian and foreign visitors. In the conditions and prospective of Albania, where tourism is being considered as one of the development priorities, educating young people with the love for nature and promotion of recreational activities in nature areas is considered crucial.

The EDEN Center, is one of the most active non-governmental organizations in Albania working on issues of environment. To get a deeper insight environment issue in the country, we talked to Merita Mansaku, Executive Directress of EDEN Center.
