GONG joined the demands of Croatian journalists for the state to take more decisive steps in the fight with violent crime and corruption and to discover and apprehend those who ordered and perpetrated the attack on Dusan Miljus and all other attacks on public personalities over the past several months.

Following the development of the electoral process in Macedonia and rising number of serious violent incidents, Civil expresses its deepest concern over the fact that the life of the citizens in Tetovo, Gostivar and other cities and towns in Macedonia are threatened, whilst the election process gets a face of an everyday terror, not the highest democratic process in the society.

Zorislav Antun Petrović, President of Transparency International Croatia says a chanced was missed to completely solve the issue of conflict of interest in the proposed changes and amendments to the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest, primarily in terms of its effective implementation.

Vjeran Piršić, President of the Council of Eko Kvarner association, sent an open letter to Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, regarding the incident with Turkish vessel Und Adriyatik and warning of the very real danger for Croatia not to learn several important lessons from the incident.

Bozidar Djelic, Vice-President of the Government charged with European Integrations, said that he intends to demand from Brussels up to 500 scholarships to finance education of Serbian students in countries of the EU. He also announced, at the meeting with representatives of youth organizations in the country, the creation of a National Youth Agency, which is required to get EU Budget funding for Serbian students.

CURE Foundation and BH Dani news magazine, with support of great many organizations, held a protest in front of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, on December 18, against the decision of the Court in the second level of jurisdiction exonerating Vlado Adamovic from the charges of violation of the Law on Gender Equality.

The GONG civic association says that the elections for the Croatian Sabor proceeded in tolerant and democratic atmosphere, on basis of reports of their monitors and anonymous reports by citizens. However, GONG received a number of reports of election violations, especially from members of national minorities and the ballot process in BiH.
