EMA Paper on Brain Gain in European Integrations

From the presentation of the PaperThe European Movement in Albania (EMA), with the support by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and the Think Tank Fund, prepared the “Brain Gain Policies and Their Impact on the European Integration Process of Albania” policy paper, which focuses on a sensitive issues that is yet to be addressed.

Gender Equality in Albania - 30 Years of CEDAW

30 years after the design and the implementation of United Nations Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), Albania, like many other countries, has in place a legal framework and mechanisms that aim to improve the actual situation of women and girls. Albania signed CEDAW in 1993, and CEDAW is now superseded to all national laws drafted by the Albanian government during the transition period. Under the provisions of the Convention, Albania should take action and build all necessary mechanisms to implement it. Contribution by Blerta Picari.

Albania adopts Anti-Discrimination Law

The Parliament of Albania adopted, with a unanimous vote February 4, 2010, the Anti-Discrimination Law which bans discrimination on various grounds, including sexual orientation and gender identity, listing Albania among the very few countries in Europe which explicitly ban discrimination on the grounds of gender identity.

EMA: Policy Forum on European Integration

European Movement in Albania (EMA) in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) organizes a policy forum on European Integration. The Forum – in Tirana’s Rogner Hotel, the London Hall, December 18, 2009, 10:00 hours, will focus on Albania’s preparations in the process of obtaining the EU candidate status.

Visa-free travel for Albania – the final steps

European Movement in Albania (EMA) and European Stability Initiative (ESI) in the framework of the project “White Schengen List” supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung organized on 16 November 2009 a conference entitled: “Visa-free travel for Albania – the final steps”, under the auspices of Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
